What is a wedding breakfast?
A celebratory meal eaten just after a wedding (at any time of day) by the couple and their guests. It is called this because it is the first meal that the couple will share after their marriage has taken place.
Who provides your catering?
We have an in-house chef who has many years experience in the caterer industry. If you have something in mind which is not on our menus, please do let us know, he would be happy to discuss alternative options with you.
What time will my ceremony be?
It is completely your choice what time you have your wedding ceremony. We suggest 3pm as the best time because it allows plenty of time to get ready in the morning and it makes your day flow very nicely without any large gaps where guests might become bored. Our venue is covered by Watford Registry Office, to find out what ceremony times are available on your chosen date, please give them a call on: 0300 123 4045.
Can I have access to the venue the day before to set up?
We never guarantee access to the venue the day before because we could always get a last minute event. If your event is on a Friday however it is a lot more likely that you would be allowed access the day before than a Saturday event.
Will there be more than one wedding or event on my day?
No, there will never be more than one wedding or event on the same day. We offer exclusive hire of our venue and all of its spaces from 9am until license end. Please be aware that there could be a cricket match during your event but the cricketers have a separate bar space and facilities.
When is your music and bar license until?
On Fridays and Saturdays it is until midnight, Sundays 11.30pm and Monday – Thursdays 11pm. After the license time you will still have half an hour before you need to leave the premises, unless agreed otherwise.
How much space is there in your car-park?
We have a large carpark to one side of the venue, it can accommodate cars for an event of up to 200 guests.
Can guests leave cars here overnight?
Yes they can leave their cars overnight and get taxis back to local hotels, as long as, they collect them before 10AM the next day. Depending on the day of your event the gate may be locked overnight, in which case cars will not be accessibly until 9am the next day. We take no responsibility for cars left in the carpark.

How much is the deposit?
The full deposit amount is £1000 or an amount equivalent to the total hire fee if it is less than £1000 to secure the date and event. In the unfortunate event of cancellation by you the client this deposit is non-refundable. Payment can be made by cash, bank transfer or over the phone by debit card or credit card.
Do you have a license for civil ceremonies?
Yes the cricket pavilion is licensed for civil ceremonies either in the Compton Long Room or outside on the veranda/patio area in the summer (weather dependant) for up to 100 guests.
When are you available for viewings?
We would love to show your around our venue and discuss your special day in details, if you would like to book an appointment please let me know if it is more convenient for you to come during the week or weekend, our office hours are Tuesday to Friday 9.30am – 3.30pm and we also have available slots during the weekends before our events start. Contact us here to book a time with our events team.
Do you charge corkage?
Yes we do charge corkage on bottles of wine at £15 per bottle, sparkling wine/champagne at £20 per bottle. Any other forms of alcohol or drinks purchased off site are no allowed to be brought into the venue or grounds.
Do you have disabled facilities?
We have a disabled toilet in the cricket pavilion and a disabled ramp in most of the doorways.
